Terms of Service

Effective: 14 July 2026
Applies to: the Cofoxi iOS app and cofoxi.com

Cofoxi is operated by Akanksha, Germany ("Cofoxi," "we," "our"). Full legal-entity and postal details are in the Impressum.

These Terms are a contract between you and us. We tried to write them in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us at team@cofoxi.com and we'll explain — or fix the wording.

1. What Cofoxi does

Cofoxi is an ambient co-presence app for focused work. You join a small room with a handful of other people who are also focusing, and share audio and video for the duration of a timed session. Each room has a text chat. There are also solo quiet-focus features that don't involve other people.

2. Accepting these Terms

By creating a Cofoxi account or using Cofoxi, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. We record the date and time you first accepted them when your account is created.

If you don't agree with any of these Terms, don't create an account. If you already have one and no longer agree, you can delete it any time from Profile → Delete account.

3. Who can use Cofoxi

4. Your account

5. Acceptable use

Cofoxi is meant to feel like a quiet library — a shared room where everyone is present but no one is in each other's way. The rules that follow protect that feeling.

Do not:

These rules apply to everything you write, say, share, or broadcast inside Cofoxi — chat messages, camera and microphone streams, check-in text, display name, emoji, and any content you upload (including screenshots attached to reports).

The categories above align with the reasons you can select when you report someone: harassment, spam, inappropriate behavior, nudity or sexual content, and "something else."

6. Safety tools you can use

You have two independent tools inside every room:

Filing a report and hiding someone are separate actions — you can do either, both, or neither. Neither notifies the other person.

7. Moderation and enforcement

We review reports within 24 hours of them being filed. Once a report is reviewed, depending on severity, we may:

Enforcement decisions are made by our team. We aim to be fair, and we prefer the lightest action that solves the problem — but repeat or serious violations, especially of §5, will lead to a termination.

We keep a minimal record of enforcement actions after account termination — this is described in the Privacy Policy §7 — so that banned accounts stay banned and so we can review our moderation history for consistency.

If you believe a moderation decision was wrong, email us at team@cofoxi.com with the details. We'll re-review.

8. Content you post

You own what you write. Your chat messages, check-in text, profile name and emoji, and any screenshots you attach to reports remain yours.

By posting content in Cofoxi you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, and process that content strictly for the purpose of running Cofoxi — showing your messages to other people in your room, showing your name and emoji on your tile, reviewing reports, and applying our moderation tools. We don't use your content for advertising, training AI models, or any purpose outside of running the service.

This licence lasts as long as the content exists in Cofoxi. It ends when the content is removed — except:

You are responsible for the content you post. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share.

9. Subscriptions

Cofoxi has a free tier and two paid tiers, currently:

Prices, feature lists, and any free trial are shown on the paywall inside the app before you subscribe.

9.1 How billing works

9.2 Cancelling and refunds

9.3 Statutory withdrawal and refund rights

Cofoxi subscription purchases are made through Apple's App Store, not directly with us. Any statutory withdrawal, cancellation, or refund rights you have for those purchases are exercised through Apple under Apple's Media Services Terms — in practice via Apple's refund process at https://reportaproblem.apple.com. Cofoxi neither processes payments nor issues refunds; cancellation as described in §9.2 prevents the next renewal but does not itself refund the current billing period.

9.4 If we change plan structure

If we change what a plan includes, change prices, or retire a plan, we'll notify you before the change takes effect — either through a notice in the app or by email to the address on your account. You can always cancel before the change lands if you don't agree with it.

10. Availability, updates, and changes

We try to keep Cofoxi running reliably, but we don't guarantee uptime. From time to time we may:

We may add, change, or retire features. If a change is material to paid features, §9.4 applies.

11. Disclaimers

Cofoxi is provided "as is." We do our best, but:

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

12. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for:

Subject to that:

We aren't liable for consequences of user-generated content posted by other people. If someone in a room breaks these Terms, they — not Cofoxi — are responsible for the harm caused.

13. Termination

You can terminate at any time by deleting your account from Profile → Delete account. See Privacy Policy §7 for what is removed and what is retained.

We can terminate or suspend your access if you materially breach §5 (Acceptable use), attempt to bypass our safety tools, or use Cofoxi for illegal activity. For non-severe violations we usually warn first; for severe violations (e.g., threats, child safety issues) we terminate immediately.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination — §8's residual licence for retained moderation records, §11 (disclaimers), §12 (liability), §13 (this section), and §14 (governing law) — survive.

14. Governing law and courts

We are not willing or obliged to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (Verbraucherschlichtungsstelle).

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Cofoxi evolves. The "Effective" date at the top always reflects the last substantive change. For material changes — for example, changes to the acceptable-use rules or to how subscriptions work — we take reasonable steps to inform you: a notice in the app, or an email to the address on your account where we have one. Material changes are notified before they take effect where required by law.
